More Information

Overview

AuSeal Solvent is a xylene-based thinner and cleaning solvent made for the AuSeal solvent-based concrete sealer range. It thins the first coat of sealer so it penetrates the concrete, cleans rollers, brushes and spray equipment after the job, and lifts grease, oil and moisture from a surface before sealing.

It is the companion product to the AuSeal clear and coloured sealers, and it is the product you reach for when a sealer needs to flow better, when equipment needs cleaning, or when a concrete surface needs a light prep before the first coat.

  • Thins the first coat to improve penetration into the concrete
  • Cleans rollers, brushes and spray equipment

What You Need to Complete the Job

For a sealing job, dilute the first coat of AuSeal 20L Clear EC25 or AuSeal 20L Clear EC-30 by up to 20 percent with the solvent, apply, then follow with a neat second coat. Clean brushes and rollers with the solvent while the sealer is still wet. For a coloured finish, pair it with the AuSeaL 20L Coloured Sealer. The full range is in the Concrete Sealers range.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much solvent do I add to thin a sealer?

Add it sparingly, typically 5 to 10 percent by volume for spray viscosity, and up to 20 percent on the first coat to improve penetration. Over-thinning reduces film build and protection, so only thin as much as the job needs.

Can I use this solvent with other brands of sealer?

It is formulated for the AuSeal solvent-based sealers. Compatibility with other brands should be tested on a small area first, because different acrylic and urethane systems use different solvent blends and an incompatible solvent can soften or cloud the coating.

How do I clean my spray equipment?

Flush the solvent through the spray lines and nozzle after use, then run clean solvent through until the lines run clear. Dip brushes and rollers in the solvent, work the sealer out, and rinse before the solvent evaporates. Dispose of used solvent following local regulations.

Is AuSeal Solvent flammable?

Yes, it is highly flammable. Use it only in well-ventilated areas, keep it away from heat, sparks and open flame, and do not smoke during use. Store it in a sealed container in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
