Where to buy roof tiles in Melbourne
Our roof tiles are Bristile New Tile concrete roof tiles, made in Australia in three profiles. Designer has soft curves, Artisan takes its lines from federation-era homes, and Classic is the traditional look. Each tile is 335 x 440 mm and lays at roughly nine tiles per square metre. Buy a handful to replace broken tiles, or order by the square metre for an extension, a re-roof or a new build.
Check the pitch first. The listing gives a minimum of 15 degrees with sarking for all three profiles, and more without it.
Tiles are clipped as well as laid. Head lap clips hold each overlap down against wind. Short course clips in 75 and 100 mm grip the cut tiles along ridges, hips and valleys. Staple clips fix standard tiles to the battens, and 85 mm valley clips hold the angled tiles in a valley without mortar.
Along the ridge, a 7 metre ridge cover sits under the capping to keep water, debris and birds out of the roof space. For valleys and around pipes, Storm Valley Seal comes in a 108 metre trade box. Yes. The tiles are sold individually as well as by the square metre. Match the profile and colour to the tiles already on your roof before you order.
What roof pitch do concrete roof tiles need?
The Bristile New Tile listing gives 15 degrees as the minimum with sarking for all three profiles. Without sarking it is 20 degrees for Designer and Artisan and 22.5 degrees for Classic.
What do I need to repoint ridge capping?
A pointing compound such as Dulux Acratex Roof Pointing, which comes ready to use and goes on with a trowel. If the ridge also needs rebedding, a bedding frame keeps the capping in a straight line while you work.
