The Dulux Avista Waterbased Epoxy Part B Hardener is the hardener component of a two-part, water-based epoxy coating for internal concrete floors. Mixed with the Waterbased Epoxy Part A Resin in a 1:1 ratio, it triggers the cure that turns the liquid resin into a tough, seamless floor coating.

The hardener is specifically formulated for the Dulux Avista water-based epoxy system and must not be substituted with other hardeners. The cured coating gives good adhesion to concrete, broad chemical resistance and a self-smoothing finish for garages, workshops and retail showrooms.

What You Need to Complete the Job

Pour the full contents of the hardener into the Waterbased Epoxy Part A Resin and mix for 2 to 3 minutes, then apply within the pot life. For a coloured floor, add the Water Based Colour Tint after the two parts are combined. Prepare the concrete first for the best bond. The system is in the Concrete Sealers range.

Can I use this hardener with a different brand of epoxy resin?

No. The hardener is formulated exclusively for the Dulux Avista Waterbased Epoxy Part A Resin. Epoxy chemistry is specific, and mixing different brands can cause incomplete curing, soft spots, poor adhesion or hazardous reactions. Always use matching parts from the same system.

What happens if I mix the wrong ratio?

The 1:1 ratio is critical. Too little hardener leaves the coating soft or sticky and under-cured, and too much can cause brittleness, discolouration or accelerated curing that prevents proper flow-out. Measure carefully and mix thoroughly.

Can I store leftover mixed epoxy for later use?

No. Once the two parts are mixed, the chemical reaction starts and cannot be stopped. Any mixed product not used within the 2 to 3 hour pot life must be disposed of. Only mix what you can apply in that window.

Does the hardener have a strong smell?

No. This is a water-based system with minimal odour, so it can be applied in enclosed spaces without overwhelming fumes. Basic ventilation is still recommended during application and curing.
