Dulux Avista Waterbased Tintable Sealer Base 15L — Custom-Coloured Concrete Protection

The Dulux Avista Waterbased Tintable Sealer Base is a premium water-based clear sealer that can be tinted in-store to one of 24 stunning colours — including 9 popular Colorbond® shades — giving you the freedom to customise your concrete surfaces to perfectly complement your home or commercial space. This 15-litre base provides a matt finish with excellent coverage of 4–8 m² per litre, making it an economical and versatile choice for both interior and exterior concrete applications.

Engineered for the modern Australian lifestyle, this low-VOC, low-odour sealer can be applied in a single day and is suitable for use on damp surfaces (no pooled water), making it ideal for renovation projects where weather windows are tight. With strong UV and fade resistance, stain and dirt resistance, and hot tyre pickup resistance, it delivers comprehensive protection without the harsh fumes associated with traditional solvent-based products.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Tintable to 24 Colours: Choose from a curated palette including 9 Colorbond® colours — tinted in-store to your exact specification for a bespoke coloured concrete finish.
  • Water-Based, Low VOC: Minimal odour and safer for use in enclosed spaces, around pets, and near vegetation compared to solvent-based alternatives.
  • Matt Finish: Achieves a contemporary, natural look that enhances colour without unwanted gloss — perfect for modern architectural and landscape designs.
  • One-Day Application: Fast 30-minute drying and 1-hour recoat time allows the entire job to be completed in a single day.
  • UV & Fade Resistant: Protects tinted colour from fading under Australian sunlight, keeping your concrete looking fresh for longer.
  • Hot Tyre Pickup Resistant: Stands up to vehicle traffic without marking or imprinting — ideal for driveways and garage floors.
  • Can Be Applied to Damp Surfaces: Unlike many sealers, this product can be applied to surfaces that are damp (but not pooling with water), offering greater scheduling flexibility.
  • Slip Resistance Option: A slip-reducing powder can be added to the final coat for increased safety on sloped or wet areas.

Ideal Applications

  • Coloured concrete driveways and pathways
  • Interior concrete floors and garage floors
  • Stamped and stencilled concrete
  • Concrete pavers
  • Alfresco and patio areas
  • Commercial and retail concrete flooring

Application Guidance

Priming: For best results, use the recommended primer suitable for your substrate — Dulux Avista Bare Concrete Primer for raw concrete surfaces, or Dulux Avista Sealed Surface Primer for previously coated surfaces.

Application: Apply by brush (50–60 mm synthetic fibre), roller (20 mm nap), or air spray. Stir gently before use. Apply thin, even coats — two coats are recommended for optimal colour depth and protection.

Coverage: Approximately 4–8 m² per litre per coat (60–120 m² per 15L pail), depending on surface porosity.

Drying Times:

  • Touch dry: ~30 minutes
  • Recoat: ~1 hour

Clean-Up: Wash tools and equipment with water immediately after use.

Tinting: This product must be tinted in-store — speak to your Singh Roofing Supplies representative about available colour options when ordering.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How does the tinting process work — do I tint it myself?

Tinting is done in-store using the Dulux Avista colour system. Simply choose your colour from the 24 available shades (including 9 Colorbond® colours) when placing your order, and the base will be tinted to your exact specification before dispatch or collection. This ensures accurate, consistent colour every time — no guesswork or manual mixing required on site.

2. What colours are available?

The Waterbased Tintable Sealer Base can be tinted to 24 colours, including 9 popular Colorbond® shades that coordinate with Australian roofing, fencing, and gutter colours. A colour card is available on the Dulux Avista website, or you can ask our team for a physical colour swatch. Popular choices include classic grey tones, warm sandstone and terracotta hues, and contemporary charcoal and monument shades.

3. Do I need a primer before applying the tinted sealer?

Yes — using the correct primer is recommended for best results. For bare, unsealed concrete, use the Dulux Avista Bare Concrete Primer. For previously sealed surfaces in good condition, use the Dulux Avista Sealed Surface Primer. Priming ensures even absorption, consistent colour, and maximum adhesion — particularly important on older or variably porous concrete.

4. Can I use this sealer outdoors on my driveway?

Absolutely — it is formulated for both interior and exterior use. The UV and fade resistance, hot tyre pickup resistance, and stain resistance make it an excellent choice for driveways. However, because it delivers a matt finish, it will not produce the wet-look gloss that some solvent-based sealers provide. If you prefer a glossier, more vibrant finish, consider the solvent-based Dulux Avista Tintable Base (19L) instead.

5. How long will the colour last before I need to reseal?

With proper application and maintenance, expect 2–4 years for exterior surfaces and longer for interior areas. The UV-resistant formulation helps prevent premature fading, but all coloured sealers exposed to full sun will gradually lighten over time. A maintenance coat applied when the surface begins to look tired will refresh the colour and protection without the need for a full strip.

6. Can I apply this on a damp concrete surface?

Yes — one of the standout features of this product is its ability to be applied to damp (not wet) surfaces. The concrete can be slightly damp to the touch but must not have standing or pooling water. This is particularly useful when working in shaded areas, during cooler months, or after pressure washing — you do not need to wait for the surface to be bone dry, saving valuable time on site.

7. Is the matt finish slippery when wet?

All film-forming sealers can reduce slip resistance to some degree. For areas where slip resistance is a concern — such as sloped driveways, pool surrounds, and external steps — a slip-reducing powder can be added to the final coat. This additive is invisible once the sealer dries and does not affect the colour or finish.
