Overview
The Dulux Avista Natural Stone Flakes are genuine crushed natural stone granules broadcast into a wet epoxy or urethane coating to create an organic, earthy decorative floor finish. Unlike manufactured vinyl flakes, the natural stone brings authentic colour variation and texture that evokes natural stone, terrazzo and granite.
Each 5kg bag holds a blend of natural stone colours. The flakes are broadcast into the wet base coat, then encapsulated with a clear topcoat such as the Avista 2 Pack Urethane or Polyaspartic Sealer to give a smooth, durable, stone-look floor that is practical as well as decorative.

What You Need to Complete the Job
Apply the epoxy or urethane base coat, broadcast the stone flakes evenly over the wet surface, and let it cure. Sweep away loose flakes, then encapsulate with a clear topcoat such as the 2 Pack Urethane Part A or the Polyaspartic Sealer Part A. For a manufactured flake look, use the Floor Flakes instead. The system is in the Concrete Sealers range.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are Natural Stone Flakes rougher underfoot than vinyl Floor Flakes?
Slightly, because natural stone has a more irregular particle shape. Once encapsulated in the clear topcoat, however, the surface is smooth and comfortable underfoot, because the clear coat fills the gaps between particles and provides a uniform wearing surface.
Can I combine Natural Stone Flakes with Floor Flakes?
Yes, blending the two can create custom looks. Because particle sizes and densities differ, they may not broadcast evenly together, so pre-mix thoroughly before broadcasting and test a small area to confirm the effect.
Do natural stone flakes require more topcoat than vinyl flakes?
Possibly. Natural stone particles can be thicker and more irregular, so more clear topcoat may be needed for a perfectly smooth surface. As a guide, budget for an extra 10 to 20% topcoat volume compared with a vinyl flake floor of the same size.
Are they suitable for outdoor use?
Yes, when encapsulated within a UV-stable, exterior-rated clear topcoat such as the Avista 2 Pack Urethane or Polyaspartic Sealer. The natural stone itself is completely UV and weather stable.
