Overview
The Dulux Avista Floor Flakes are decorative vinyl flakes broadcast into a wet epoxy or urethane floor coating to create a multi-tonal, decorative finish. They turn a plain coated floor into a showroom-quality surface that hides substrate imperfections, adds texture and creates visual depth.
The flakes are UV-stable and chemically resistant, and they lock permanently into the coating as it cures. A clear topcoat of urethane or polyaspartic sealer is applied over the top to encapsulate the flakes and give a smooth, durable, easy-to-clean finish. They are popular in garages, showrooms and retail spaces.

What You Need to Complete the Job
Apply the epoxy or urethane base coat, broadcast the flakes evenly over the wet surface, and let it cure. Sweep away loose flakes, then encapsulate with a clear topcoat such as the 2 Pack Urethane Part A or the Polyaspartic Sealer Part A. The coating system is in the Concrete Sealers range.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Floor Flakes and Natural Stone Flakes?
Floor Flakes are manufactured vinyl flakes in curated colour blends that give a consistent, contemporary look popular in modern garages and retail spaces. Natural Stone Flakes are genuine crushed stone in natural tones that give a more organic, earthy aesthetic. Choose based on the finish you want.
How much coverage do I get from a 5kg bag?
Coverage depends on the flake density you want. For a light broadcast, up to 20 to 30 square metres. For a medium broadcast, 10 to 15 square metres. For a full broadcast where flakes completely cover the base, 5 to 8 square metres. Buy extra bags for full-broadcast large areas.
Do I need a clear topcoat over the flakes?
Yes. The flakes are not a wearing surface on their own. They must be encapsulated with a clear urethane or polyaspartic topcoat to lock them in, give a smooth surface, and provide durability and cleanability.
Can I use these flakes outdoors?
Yes, provided they are encapsulated within a UV-stable clear topcoat such as the Avista 2 Pack Urethane or Polyaspartic Sealer. The flakes are UV resistant themselves, but the whole system must be exterior rated.
