More Information

Overview

The Dulux Avista High Solids Epoxy Part A Resin is the resin component of a two-part, solvent-based high-solids epoxy for heavy-duty internal concrete floors. Mixed with the High Solids Epoxy Part B Hardener in the specified ratio, it cures to an exceptionally hard coating with strong chemical and abrasion resistance.

It is the professional choice for commercial kitchens, industrial workshops, laboratories and heavy-traffic retail floors. The high-solids chemistry means more of what you apply stays on the floor as a protective film, giving a thicker build per coat than a standard epoxy.

Key Features

  • High-solids formula for a thicker film build per coat
  • Exceptional resistance to sulphuric acid, hydrochloric acid, ammonia, toluene, kerosene and sump oil
  • Self-smoothing, low viscosity finish
  • Fast cure, dust free in about 8 hours, recoat in 10 to 12 hours
  • Low VOC, about 50 g/L tinted and 64 g/L untinted
  • 5-year shelf life in unopened packaging

Specifications

  • Pack size: 6L
  • Mix ratio: 1000 mL Part A to 650 mL Part B by volume, or 680 g to 405 g by weight
  • Pot life: about 25 minutes at 25 degrees
  • Dust free: about 8 hours at 20 degrees; full cure 10 to 12 hours
  • Coverage: about 10 m2 per litre, a 10L mixed kit covers up to 100 m2
  • Internal use only, not UV stable

Applications

  • Commercial kitchens and food preparation areas
  • Industrial workshops and laboratories
  • High-traffic retail floors
  • Residential garages used for vehicle work

What You Need to Complete the Job

Combine the resin with the matching High Solids Epoxy Hardener Part B at the specified ratio and apply within the 25-minute pot life, working as a two-person team on larger floors. For extra wear, top with the 2 Pack Urethane. Prepare the concrete by grinding or shot blasting. The system is in the Concrete Sealers range.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes this high solids compared to standard epoxy?

High-solids epoxy contains a higher percentage of solid resin and less solvent, so more of what you apply stays on the floor as coating rather than evaporating. That means a thicker film per coat, better chemical resistance and fewer coats to reach the desired build. The trade-off is a short 25-minute pot life.

Can I use this in my home garage?

Yes, it is an excellent choice for a garage, especially one used for vehicle work where resistance to oil and petrol matters. Be aware of the short pot life: mix small batches and work quickly. For a first-time DIY epoxy job, the water-based epoxy with its longer pot life is more forgiving.

How does the mix ratio work in practice?

The kit is supplied as a 6L Part A and a 4L Part B, designed to be mixed together in full. For smaller batches the ratio is 1000 mL of Part A to 650 mL of Part B by volume. Accurate measurement is essential, an incorrect ratio means incomplete curing.

Can I apply multiple coats?

Yes. Recoat within 10 to 12 hours. If you wait longer than 24 hours, light sanding gives the next coat a mechanical key. For maximum chemical and hydrostatic resistance, three coats reaching a 300 micron dry film thickness are recommended.
