More Information

Overview

The Dulux Avista High Solids Epoxy Part B Hardener is the hardener component of a two-part, high-solids epoxy system for heavy-duty internal concrete floors. Combined with the High Solids Epoxy Part A Resin, it drives the rapid chemical cure that produces a hard, chemical-resistant floor coating for commercial kitchens, workshops and retail environments.

The 4L hardener is matched to the 6L Part A Resin, and together they form a complete 10L kit covering roughly 100 square metres per coat. The high-solids chemistry delivers a thicker film build and better protection per coat than a standard epoxy.

What You Need to Complete the Job

Add the full 4L hardener to the High Solids Epoxy Resin Part A for a complete kit, or measure smaller batches at the 650 mL per 1000 mL ratio, and apply within the 25-minute pot life. For a topcoat with more gloss and UV resistance, finish with the 2 Pack Urethane. The system is in the Concrete Sealers range.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the pot life so short compared to the water-based epoxy?

The 25-minute pot life comes from the fast-curing, high-solids chemistry that gives this system its hardness and chemical resistance. The trade-off is faster recoat and a quicker return to service, but you must work efficiently and mix small batches.

Can I mix only part of the kit?

Yes, if you measure accurately at 650 mL of Part B per 1000 mL of Part A. Use clean, graduated containers and do not estimate, because an incorrect ratio causes soft spots or incomplete cure. For most jobs, mixing the full kit and working with a two-person team is simplest.

What happens if I do not use the mixed product within 25 minutes?

The mixture thickens, heats up from the exothermic reaction and becomes unworkable. Applying it past pot life causes poor flow-out, roller marks and compromised adhesion. Dispose of the expired mix and start a fresh batch.

How should I store the unmixed hardener?

Store it in a cool, dry place in the tightly sealed original container, away from moisture, direct sunlight and temperature extremes, and do not let it freeze. In proper storage the shelf life is 5 years.
