Overview

Beton Seal AU-845 is a single pack, solvent based acrylic sealer that dries clear and glossy and gives concrete the wet look finish that decorative slabs are usually sealed for. It deepens the colour and picks out the texture of exposed aggregate rather than covering it.

Behind the appearance it is doing the work of a sealer: shedding water, resisting oil and chemical staining, and taking the UV hit so the surface underneath does not. It is single pack, so there is no mixing, and it is rolled or brushed on.

Surface Preparation

All surfaces have to be clean, dry and free of dust, oil, grease, curing compounds and previous coatings. Chemstuk specifies concrete of at least 25 MPa, dry to 75 percent relative humidity tested to ASTM F2170 and AS 1884, and states plainly that it should not be applied to surfaces affected by rising damp. Apply a test patch before doing the whole area, because coverage and drying both move with the weather and the porosity of the slab.

What You Need to Complete the Job

A gloss sealer is smooth by design, so on a pool surround, a ramp or anywhere the surface gets wet, Chemstuk’s data sheet lists Grip-PE 711 as the additive to improve slip resistance. If you want colour on the slab rather than a clear coat, that is Pave Cover PC-631, and if you want protection with no change in appearance at all, use naNo-Leak FC-111 instead. When can I walk and drive on it?
