Overview
Epoxy is tough, but it chalks and yellows in sunlight. That is fine in a warehouse with no windows. It is not fine on a patio, a loading dock, or anywhere the floor sees daylight through an open roller door.
Polyurit PU-232 is the topcoat that goes over it. It is an aliphatic polyurethane, which is the part that matters, because aromatic polyurethanes yellow and aliphatic ones do not. Two pack, satin, tinted to AS 2700 so the floor lines up with Colorbond roofing and fencing.

Mixing
Stir Part A on its own first. Pigment settles in the tin, and if you do not lift it off the bottom the colour comes out uneven across the floor. Then add Part B at four to one and mix with a slow speed drill and helical head for two minutes, taking care not to whip air in. Scrape the sides and base of the bucket as you go. Sixty minutes of pot life at 25 degrees drops to around half on a hot slab.
What You Need to Complete the Job
Over epoxy, coat inside the epoxy’s recoat window for a chemical bond, or abrade to a uniform matt, vacuum and solvent wipe first. A slab that rubs away chalky under your hand is loose and powdery and needs Primit E6-111 before anything else. On a ramp, a wet area or an outdoor walkway, add Grip-PE 711 to the top coat only, at one jar per 10 litre kit, and back roll to keep the spread even. Over an exposed Liquid Lastic PU-991 membrane, Polyurit is the coat that takes the UV. The full range is in Concrete Coatings.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need this over an epoxy floor?
Only if the floor sees daylight. Epoxy chalks and ambers under UV, so a garage with the door open, a loading dock or an alfresco slab benefits. A closed warehouse floor does not need it.
How long between coats?
Four to 48 hours. Inside that window the second coat bonds chemically into the first. Miss it and the floor has to be sanded back to a uniform matt before anything else goes on.
When can I use the floor?
Foot traffic after eight hours. Full cure takes seven days, and until then keep vehicles, heavy loads, spilled chemicals and standing water off it.
Does it come in colours?
Yes, tintable and matched to AS 2700, the same colour standard used for Colorbond. Call the store on (03) 9394 1400 to confirm a shade.
