Overview
Concrete driveways go grey. The colour flattens out, oil marks sink in, and after a decade the slab looks tired even though there is nothing structurally wrong with it. Pave Cover PC-631 puts colour back on it and then protects it.
It is a water based, single pack polyurethane with a satin finish, tinted to AS 2700 colours so the driveway matches Colorbond roofing and fencing. The reason it is built on polyurethane rather than acrylic is hot tyre pick up. An acrylic paving paint softens under a warm tyre and lifts when the car pulls away. Chemstuk states Pave Cover does not do that, with the qualifier that it depends on concrete quality.

Keep The Cars Off It For Seven Days
It is touch dry in hours and you can walk on it the next day, but a water based polyurethane keeps hardening for a week. Park on it on day three and you press tyre marks into a floor that would have been fine on day eight. Give it four hours between coats, and longer on a cold shaded slab in winter, because recoating too early traps water in the film.
What You Need to Complete the Job
Preparation decides whether this lasts. The slab has to be clean, dry and free of oil, old sealer, loose material and curing compound, and it has to be etched, because the surface of bare concrete is usually closed off by laitance. Then do the water drop test: water that soaks in within a minute and darkens the concrete means the surface is open, and water that beads means the slab needs grinding. If the surface rubs away chalky under your hand, it needs Primit E6-111 first. For grip on a ramp or a wet area, stir in Grip-PE 711. If you need water stopped rather than shed, that is Liquid Lastic PU-991, not this. The wider range is in Concrete Sealers.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do I need for a driveway?
A 15 litre bucket covers up to 80 square metres at 120 microns on smooth, sealed concrete. Bare or porous slabs drink more, so allow 15 to 20 percent on top.
Is this a waterproofing product?
No. It is a coating, not a membrane. For a balcony over a living space or a planter box, you need a liquid applied waterproofing membrane instead.
Which colours do people usually pick for a driveway?
Charcoal, Monument, Surfmist, Woodland Grey and Basalt are ordered most often, because they line up with Colorbond roofing and fencing. All 29 colours on this listing are matched to AS 2700.
When can I drive on it?
Seven days. Foot traffic is fine after 24 hours, but the film keeps hardening for a week and vehicle traffic before then leaves marks.
