Dy-Mark Zinc Guard Etch Primer 325g
Dy-Mark Zinc Guard Etch Primer is a fast-dry aerosol formulated to etch and bond to metals that ordinary primers struggle with. Whether you are top-coating aluminium flashings, galvanised iron gutters, new steel gates or brass fittings, this matt etch primer bites into the surface, seals pores and lays down a corrosion-resistant foundation for any Zinc Guard enamel or other quality finish coat. The result is longer paint life, better colour hold and fewer callbacks.

Frequently Asked Questions
What metals does it etch?
It etches aluminium, galvanised iron, stainless steel, ZINCALUME, copper and brass. That covers the metals ordinary primers struggle to hold onto, especially the shiny or zinc-coated ones.
Why use an etch primer?
Smooth and galvanised metals give paint a poor surface to grip. The etch primer bites into the metal, seals the pores and lays down a corrosion-resistant key coat so the topcoat bonds and lasts.
How fast can I top-coat it?
It is touch dry in 10 minutes and ready to recoat after a minimum of 2 hours, so a small metal job can be primed and finished the same day.
Which finish is this pack?
This listing is code 230732001 in matt grey, the general-purpose shade for most metal substrates. A matt black version is available for components that need a darker base.
