More Information

Proctor Ridge Vent RV10

The Proctor ridge vent RV10 is a 2000mm passive ridge vent that releases warm air from the roof void. It works on the simplest principle in roof ventilation: warm air rises, and wind passing over the ridge creates negative pressure that pulls that air out. With no moving parts and no power draw, it keeps working year round as part of a passive ventilation system.

Key Features

  • 2000mm length for a continuous ridge line run
  • Releases airflow of 8,000mm² per linear metre
  • Flexible aluminium flashing forms to the roof profile
  • Seals against water ingress on any pitch roof
  • Suits cladding profiles with a trough depth under 38mm
  • Passive operation, no power and no maintenance

Specifications

  • Product: Proctor ridge vent RV10
  • Length: 2000mm
  • Airflow: 8,000mm² per linear metre
  • Operation: passive, natural convection and wind pressure
  • Flashing: adhesive, flexible aluminium
  • Compatibility: roof cladding profiles with a trough depth under 38mm

Installation

The RV10 is laid along the ridge before the ridge capping goes on. Press the flexible aluminium flashing down over the sheet profile so it forms to the corrugations, which stops water driving in under the vent. The adhesive backing holds it in place while the ridge cap is fixed over the top, and the vent outlet stays clear along the full run.

Applications

  • Ridge ventilation on metal roof cladding
  • New roofs and re-roofing where passive ventilation is wanted
  • Roofs with no power available for a powered vent
  • Completing a ProctorVent inlet and outlet system

What You Need To Complete The Job

For the vent to work properly it needs an inlet at the eave. Pair the RV10 with a Proctor FV10 over fascia vent or a Proctor FV25 depending on the roof pitch, and add the RV10 BAL where ember protection is needed. See the Roof Ventilation range for the full system.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does a ridge vent work without power?

Warm air in the roof void rises naturally and exits through the vent at the highest point of the roof. Wind moving over the ridge also creates negative pressure that draws the air out, so the vent works continuously with nothing to run or wear out. That steady air movement is what stops heat and moisture building up in the roof space.

What airflow does the RV10 provide?

The vent releases 8,000mm² of airflow per linear metre. Combined with the eave inlet, that keeps a steady exchange of air through the roof space so heat and moisture do not build up.

Which roof profiles does it fit?

It suits roof cladding profiles with a trough depth under 38mm. The flexible aluminium flashing forms to the profile, which is what seals the vent against water ingress on any pitch.

Is there a bushfire-rated version?

Yes. The RV10 BAL is the same 2000mm ridge vent supplied with BAL mesh pre-fitted for ember protection. Use it where the build is in a bushfire-prone area.

How do I size the ridge vent run?

The RV10 is supplied in 2000mm lengths, and the lengths are joined end to end along the ridge for a continuous outlet. Count the lengths from the ridge line you need to cover, then check the roof space volume and pitch against the 8,000mm² per linear metre airflow to confirm the ventilation figure.
