More Information

Proctor Ridge Vent RV10 BAL

The Proctor ridge vent RV10 BAL is the bushfire-rated version of the RV10 ridge vent, supplied in 2000mm lengths with BAL mesh fitted. It sits along the ridge line and releases warm air from the roof void using natural convection, the same way a passive vent works without any moving parts or power draw. The BAL mesh is the difference: it keeps embers and debris out of the roof space, which is what a bushfire-rated build needs at the ridge.

Key Features

  • 2000mm ridge vent for continuous ridge line coverage
  • Pre-fitted BAL mesh for ember protection
  • Releases airflow of 8,000mm² per linear metre
  • Uses natural convection and wind pressure, no power or moving parts
  • Flexible aluminium flashing forms to the roof profile
  • Suits roof cladding profiles with a trough depth under 38mm

Specifications

  • Product: Proctor ridge vent RV10 BAL
  • Length: 2000mm
  • Airflow: 8,000mm² per linear metre
  • Operation: passive, natural convection
  • Flashing: adhesive, flexible aluminium
  • Compatibility: cladding profiles with a trough depth under 38mm
  • BAL: pre-fitted BAL mesh

Installation

The RV10 BAL sits at the ridge line, with the flexible aluminium flashing pressed down to form to the roof profile so water cannot get in under the vent. The adhesive backing holds the flashing in place as the ridge cap is fitted over the top. Because the flashing forms to the sheet profile, the vent works on any roof pitch and seals tight along the whole ridge run.

Applications

  • Ridge ventilation on metal roof cladding
  • Bushfire-prone areas where a BAL-rated vent is specified
  • Passive roof space ventilation on any roof pitch
  • Completing a ProctorVent inlet and outlet system

What You Need To Complete The Job

Pair the ridge vent with an inlet at the eave so the air has somewhere to enter. Use a Proctor FV10 BAL over fascia vent for the same bushfire rating at the eave, or a standard Proctor FV10 where BAL is not required. See the Roof Ventilation range for the full system.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the RV10 and the RV10 BAL?

The RV10 BAL is supplied with BAL mesh pre-fitted, which stops embers and debris entering the roof space at the ridge. The standard RV10 has the same 2000mm body and 8,000mm² airflow but without the ember mesh. Choose the BAL version where the build requires it.

How much air does it move?

The vent releases 8,000mm² of airflow per linear metre. That is a passive rating, which means it works continuously using rising warm air and wind pressure, without electricity or maintenance.

Which roof profiles does it suit?

It suits roof cladding profiles with a trough depth under 38mm. The flexible aluminium flashing forms to the profile, which is what keeps the vent sealed on the ridge of a corrugated or trapezoidal sheet roof.

Does it need power?

No. It is a passive vent that works year round by natural convection. Warm air rises out of the roof void and wind passing over the ridge creates negative pressure that draws the air out.

Where does the BAL mesh sit on the vent?

The ember mesh is fitted across the vent opening at the ridge, so firebrands and debris are stopped before they reach the roof cavity. The mesh does not reduce the 8,000mm² airflow rating, which is why the BAL version keeps the same ventilation performance as the standard RV10.
