Proctor Over Fascia Vent FV25 BAL
The Proctor over fascia vent FV25 BAL is a 25mm x 1000mm eave vent with BAL mesh pre-fitted, made to draw air into the roof space between the sarking and the fascia board. It is the higher airflow version of the FV10, with a larger 25mm opening that pushes 25,000mm² of air per linear metre into the roof. The pre-fitted BAL mesh adds ember protection, which makes it the right pick where the build needs a bushfire-rated eave vent.
Key Features
- 25,000mm² positive airflow per linear metre, 1/150 ratio
- 1000mm length for a continuous eave run
- Pre-fitted BAL mesh for ember protection
- Reduced height profile, no need to pack out roof sheets
- Increased rigidity and flutes make fixings easier to position
- Suits timber and metal fascias
Specifications
- Product: Proctor over fascia vent FV25 BAL
- Size: 25mm x 1000mm
- Airflow: 25,000mm² per linear metre, 1/150
- Design: traditional roofs with pitch under 22 degrees, cathedral roofs of any pitch
- Openings: 4mm, sized to block large insects and prevent capillary action
- BAL: pre-fitted BAL mesh
Installation
The FV25 BAL fits between the fascia board and the roof cladding at the eave, with the openings facing into the roof space. Its reduced height keeps the vent discreet on the fascia line, and the flutes give a clean surface for the fixings so the vent stays put while the cladding goes on. Fit it before the roof sheets so the airflow path from the eave into the roof space is open from the start.
Applications
- Eave ventilation on lower pitch roofs under 22 degrees
- Cathedral roofs where a standard eave vent will not fit
- Bushfire-prone areas where a BAL-rated vent is specified
- New builds and re-roofing with a calculated ventilation system
What You Need To Complete The Job
The FV25 BAL is the inlet side of the ventilation system, so it needs an outlet at the ridge. Pair it with a Proctor ridge vent RV10 BAL for the same bushfire rating, or a standard Proctor RV10 where it is not required. See the Roof Ventilation range for the full system.
Frequently Asked Questions
When would I use the FV25 instead of the FV10?
The FV25 moves more air, 25,000mm² per linear metre against the FV10’s 10,000mm², and it is built for lower roof pitches under 22 degrees and cathedral roofs. The FV10 suits steeper traditional roofs over 16 degrees. Match the vent to the roof pitch and the ventilation calculation.
What does the BAL version add?
The BAL version has ember mesh pre-fitted, which stops embers and debris entering the roof space through the vent. It is the same 25mm x 1000mm body and airflow, just with the bushfire protection built in.
How does the vent let air in without letting water in?
The 4mm openings are sized so air passes freely but large insects cannot get in, and the openings are wide enough that capillary action cannot draw water up between them. The reduced height also keeps the vent low on the fascia, away from the water line.
Does it work on metal fascias?
Yes. The vent is compatible with timber and metal fascias, so it suits both traditional timber framed eaves and modern metal fascia lines.
