Weatherproof Louvre Vent 150mm Single Brick
This louvre vent replaces a standard brick in a single brick wall, which turns one of the wall openings into a finished vent without cutting through the cladding. The louvres are angled so rain and wind are kept out while air moves through, and a mesh insert stops pests getting in behind the vent. It is a simple way to add ventilation to a room, a roof space or a sub-floor area.
Key Features
- Replaces a standard brick for a flush, secure fit
- Angled louvres keep rain and wind out while air flows
- 2mm aluminium mesh keeps insects and rodents out
- BAL-40 rated for bushfire-prone areas

Specifications
- Product: weatherproof louvre vent single brick
- Vent size: 150mm
- Application: single brick wall ventilation
- Fire rating: BAL-40
- Mesh: 2mm aluminium
- Installation: replaces a standard brick
Installation
Remove the brick from the wall and slide the vent into the opening so it sits flush with the wall face. The body holds itself between the bricks, and the face protrudes only slightly. Fit it in a wall that faces the airflow you want, and position it clear of gutters and downpipes so the louvres are not blocked by splash or debris.
Applications
- Wall ventilation on single brick homes
- Venting roof spaces and sub-floor areas
- Bushfire-prone areas where a BAL-rated vent is specified
- Adding airflow to rooms without cutting a new opening
What You Need To Complete The Job
Where the vent feeds a duct run, connect it with flexible foil ducting, or order the louvre vent kit which includes 2m of ducting and the adapter. Browse the Roof Ventilation range for the full selection.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this the same as the louvre vent kit?
No. This is the standalone louvre vent for a single brick opening, without ducting. The louvre vent kit includes 2m of rectangular foil ducting and the adapter for connecting a fan or duct run.
How does it keep water out?
The louvres are angled downwards so rain and wind are deflected while air still moves through the opening. That keeps the vent weatherproof without restricting airflow.
What is the BAL rating?
It is BAL-40 rated, which means it meets the ember protection requirements of AS3959-2009 for a bushfire-prone area. The 2mm mesh stops embers and pests entering through the vent, and that same mesh is what keeps the vent compliant while the louvres handle the weather.
Can I use it for sub-floor ventilation?
Yes. Fitted in an external wall near the sub-floor, it increases circulation and reduces moisture under the house. You can leave it passive or connect a fan for active airflow.
Does the mesh stop rodents as well as insects?
The 2mm aluminium mesh is fine enough to keep insects, rodents and debris out of the vent opening while the louvres block rain and wind. The mesh is fixed in place, so there is no gap for pests to work around.
What tools do I need to install it?
The vent is designed to slide into a brick opening, so the main work is removing the brick and cleaning the cavity. Standard masonry tools open the opening, and the vent body holds itself in place between the bricks with the face protruding only a few millimetres.
