The Dulux Avista Water Based Penetrating Sealer is a clear protective treatment for porous concrete, exposed aggregate, concrete pavers and natural stone. Unlike a film-forming sealer that sits on the surface, it penetrates deep into the substrate and delivers water repellency and stain resistance while keeping the natural look of the concrete.

The formula is very low VOC and PFAS free, making it a safer choice around people and landscaping. Because it is breathable, moisture vapour can escape from the substrate, which avoids the blistering and delamination that surface films can cause.

What You Need to Complete the Job

Make sure the surface is clean, dry and free of existing film-forming sealers, then apply a single even coat with a low-pressure garden sprayer. For a newly exposed aggregate surface, the aggregate is often revealed with the Exposed Aggregate Surface Retarder first. Where a glossier finish is wanted, use the Exposed Aggregate Sealer instead. Will this sealer change the colour or appearance of my concrete?

No. It is a true penetrating formula that soaks into the concrete without leaving a surface film, so it preserves the natural colour, texture and finish. Test a small, inconspicuous area first to confirm the result meets your expectations.

How long does the protection last before I need to reseal?

In typical Australian residential conditions, expect 5 to 10 years of effective protection. Because the sealer penetrates the substrate, it only wears away if the concrete surface itself erodes. A water-bead test tells you when to reseal: if water no longer beads, apply a fresh coat.

Can I use this on a driveway that has been sealed before?

Yes, but any existing film-forming sealer must be completely stripped first, because the penetrating sealer needs open pores to absorb. Use the Dulux Avista Sealer Stripper to remove old coatings, then clean and dry the surface. If the previous sealer was also a penetrating type, a clean dry surface is usually enough.

Does it make the surface slippery when wet?

No. Because the sealer absorbs into the concrete rather than forming a glossy film, the natural micro-texture and slip resistance stay unchanged. This makes it a strong choice for pool surrounds, driveways and footpaths where safety matters.
