More Information

Overview

The Holman Storm PVC Elbow F&F 90mm 45 degree is a female-female elbow for 90mm stormwater pipe. It changes the direction of a pipe run through 45 degrees, which is the angle most often used to guide stormwater around corners, steps and obstructions while keeping the flow moving.

It is made from quality recycled PVC and used for stormwater and rainwater drainage in residential and commercial buildings. The female sockets on both ends take plain pipe ends, and the fitting is solvent welded into place. It complies with AS/NZS 1254 for stormwater fittings.

What You Need to Complete the Job

Cut the pipe ends square, dry-fit the elbow, then apply solvent cement to both sockets and the pipe ends and push together with a quarter-turn twist. Use it with the 90mm stormwater pipe and cement the joints with Bostik Pipe Cement Type N. The full range of stormwater fittings is in the PVC Fittings range.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does F&F mean on this elbow?

F&F means female and female. Both ends of the elbow are female sockets that accept plain pipe ends, so the fitting is used to join two lengths of pipe or to connect pipe to a fitting with a spigot. It is the standard connection type for stormwater pipe runs.

Why use a 45 degree elbow instead of 90 degree?

A 45 degree elbow changes the pipe direction more gently, which keeps the flow moving and reduces the chance of blockages at the change of direction. Use a 45 where the pipe needs to step gradually, and reserve 90 degree elbows for tight right-angle turns.

Can I use this elbow for a downpipe connection?

Yes. A 45 degree elbow is often used in downpipe connections to angle the pipe towards the wall outlet or the below-ground line. Two 45 degree elbows can also combine to make a gentler 90 degree change where a single sharp elbow would restrict flow.

Is this fitting suitable for buried pipe?

Yes. The recycled PVC fitting is made for above and below ground stormwater work, and the solvent weld joint gives a permanent watertight connection. Bed the pipe and fittings evenly in the trench so the joints are not left supporting the weight of the backfill.
