More Information

Overview

The Storm PVC Slip Coupling 90mm is the fitting used to repair or extend a 90mm stormwater pipe run in place. It has female sockets on both ends with no internal stop or register, so the coupling slides over the pipe ends before being positioned and solvent welded into a watertight joint.

That no-stop design is what makes it a repair coupling. You slide the coupling fully over one pipe end, bring the two pipe ends together or line them up, then slide the coupling back over the joint and cement it. It suits tight zones where a standard coupling cannot be fitted because the pipe ends are already fixed.

Key Features

  • Slip or repair coupling for 90mm stormwater pipe
  • Female sockets both ends with no internal stop
  • Slides over pipe ends before positioning and jointing
  • Solvent weld joint for a watertight connection
  • Made from durable PVC-U
  • Complies with AS/NZS 1254

Specifications

  • Size: 90mm nominal
  • Connection: female x female, slip fit
  • Jointing: solvent weld (SWJ)
  • Material: PVC-U
  • Cure: allow about 24 hours before testing or backfilling
  • Standard: AS/NZS 1254

Applications

  • Repairing a cut or damaged section of 90mm stormwater pipe
  • Extending an existing pipe run where the ends are fixed
  • Joining aligned pipes in a trench
  • Above and below ground stormwater systems

What You Need to Complete the Job

Cut the pipe ends square and clean them, then slide the coupling fully over one pipe end. Align the second pipe, slide the coupling back over the joint, apply solvent cement to both sockets and pipe ends, and assemble before the cement sets. Allow about 24 hours before testing. Use it with the 90mm stormwater pipe and cement with Bostik Pipe Cement Type N. More fittings are in the PVC Fittings range.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes this different from a standard coupling?

A standard coupling has an internal stop that locates the pipe in the middle of the fitting. The slip coupling has no internal stop, so it can slide fully over one pipe end and then be moved back over the joint. That is what makes it work for repairs where the pipe ends are already in position.

Can I use it to repair a damaged pipe section?

Yes. Cut out the damaged section, clean both remaining pipe ends, slide the slip coupling over one end, bring the ends together, and slide the coupling back over the joint before solvent welding. It is the standard fitting for this repair.

How long does the joint take to cure?

The solvent weld joint reaches handling strength in minutes but should be allowed about 24 hours to reach full strength before the line is tested or backfilled. Do not move or load the joint during curing.

Is this suitable for buried pipe work?

Yes. The PVC-U coupling is made for stormwater drainage and suits above and below ground work. Bed the pipe and coupling evenly in the trench so the joint is not point-loaded by the backfill.
