Nutech NXT Cool Zone Low-Sheen 15L
Nutech NXT Cool Zone Low-Sheen is a heat-reflective nanotech roof coating formulated with Thermal Protection Technology and nano-modified acrylic polymers. It reflects up to 90% of solar infrared energy while shedding dirt and biological growth, which means a cooler roof, lower air-conditioning demand and a finish that keeps its colour and sheen far longer than conventional roof paints. The low-sheen finish is the right pick where a lower-glare roof is preferred.
Stand-out Benefits
- Energy savings, verified Total Solar Reflectance (TSR) values of 30-91% cut roof-surface temperatures and help reduce summer cooling costs
- Long-term durability, cross-linking acrylic resists harsh UV, chalking and chemical attack, backed by a 15-year manufacturer’s warranty when applied to specification
- Self-cleaning surface, low surface friction minimises dirt pick-up and resists mould, lichen and moss
- Low VOC, water based, easy clean-up and safe for rain-water harvesting once cured
- Versatile substrate compatibility across concrete or terracotta tiles, primed metal, asbestos cement and asphalt shingles

Application Outline
Pressure-clean the roof at 3000 psi or higher, repair any defects and select the correct Nutech primer for the substrate. Apply the first coat of NXT Cool Zone at 4 m2 per litre and allow a minimum of 4 hours to dry, then apply the second coat uniformly to reach the specified 200 um dry film. Avoid application below 10C or if rain is forecast within 24 hours.
Applications
- Cool-roof upgrades on concrete and terracotta tile roofs
- Primed metal, asbestos cement and asphalt shingle roofs
- Homes and buildings in hot Australian climates where cooling costs matter
- Roofs where a low-sheen, low-glare heat-reflective finish is wanted
What You Need To Complete The Job
For a high-gloss version of the same coating use Nutech NXT Cool Zone Gloss, and for a general self-cleaning membrane pair it with Nutech TileFlex. Browse the full Paint range for the complete system.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much heat does Cool Zone reflect?
It reflects up to 90% of solar infrared energy, with verified TSR values of 30-91% depending on the colour. All Cool Zone colours exceed 30% TSR, and many light and mid tones exceed 60%.
What warranty is offered?
NXT Cool Zone is backed by a 15-year manufacturer’s warranty when applied to specification, covering the coating against premature failure under the Nutech guidelines.
What is the difference between Low-Sheen and Gloss?
Both are the same heat-reflective Cool Zone membrane. Low-Sheen gives a lower-glare finish for roofs where a softer look is preferred, while Gloss delivers a high-gloss, wet-look finish.
Will it really reduce cooling costs?
The verified TSR values reduce the roof-surface temperature, which lowers the heat load entering the building and can reduce summer air-conditioning demand. The actual saving depends on the roof, insulation and local climate.
