About the EERA Kingspan Flashing Notcher

The EERA Kingspan Flashing Notcher cuts rib notches in flashings and trims for the Kingspan profile. The notch is 40mm high, 62mm across the base and 33mm across the top. EERA designs and manufactures the tool in Warrnambool, Victoria.

Like the other tools in the range, it goes by a few names: flashing notcher, flashing cutter or flashing puncher. It does one job well. The head is shaped to the Kingspan rib and self locates, so you set the folded flashing in the tool and pull the lever, without marking out each rib first.

The Kingspan notch is 33mm across the top, which leaves a long top edge to cut by hand. The shaped head cuts that edge cleanly at every rib.

Before You Notch

Fold the flashing or trim on a sheet metal folder before notching, with a 40mm turndown to match the rib. For the fold angle on Kingspan, call us on (03) 9394 1400 before you set the folder and we will confirm it with EERA. Once the edge is folded, the tool does the rest: seat the head on each rib position and pull the lever. Try the first notched length against the sheet before you notch the rest.

What You Need to Complete the Job

When the blades wear, choose the Kingspan option in our EERA replacement blades. Flashings often start as flat sheet such as our 1200mm wide Colorbond or Zincalume flat sheet, and the full EERA range is in Metal Roofing Tools.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I buy Kingspan replacement blades?

Yes. Kingspan is one of the six profiles with replacement blade sets listed online. Open the EERA replacement blades product and choose Kingspan from the Suits Notcher option. The set fits this notcher only, because EERA blades are profile specific.

Will it notch flashings for other 40mm rib profiles?

Not unless the rib shape matches. Several EERA notchers cut a 40mm high notch, but the widths differ: Kingspan is 62mm at the base and 33mm at the top, Prodek 75mm and 35mm, T40 70mm and 23mm. A notch cut for the wrong shape will not sit down cleanly, so measure the full rib, not only the height.

How thick a flashing can it cut?

EERA rates the Kingspan notcher for galvanised steel up to 1mm and prepainted steel up to 1mm, with a cutting tolerance of plus or minus 0.5mm. It works by manual lever and is made for straight flashings and trims along the ribs. It is not designed to cut hips.

Does the Kingspan notcher need power?

No. It is a manual lever tool, so there is no lead, battery or compressor to take onto the roof. It measures 560 x 130 x 150mm with a net weight of 6kg. EERA designs and manufactures it in Warrnambool, Victoria.
