More Information

About the EERA IBR Flashing Notcher

The EERA IBR Flashing Notcher cuts rib notches in flashings for IBR, or inverted box rib, roofing and the Austrian Trapezoidal profile. Each notch is 35mm high, 67mm across the base and 35mm across the top, so the flashing sits down over the wide, flat topped IBR rib. EERA designs and manufactures it in Warrnambool, Victoria.

The tool is also sold as a flashing cutter or flashing puncher. It works with a manual lever and a head shaped to the rib, which locates itself on the profile. There is no marking out and no snipping each notch by hand.

IBR ribs are wide and flat on top, so a notch cut by hand has a long top edge to keep straight. A shaped head cuts that edge the same way at every rib.

Preparing the Flashing

EERA’s recommended fold for IBR flashing or trim is 90 degrees on a sheet metal folder, 35mm long. That puts the folded edge at the same height as the rib. Fold the full length, then work along the flashing, seating the head over each rib position before pulling the lever.

What You Need to Complete the Job

Flashings for an IBR roof often start as flat sheet; our 1200mm wide flat sheet in Colorbond or Zincalume is one option. When the blades wear, choose the IBR option in our EERA replacement blades. The other EERA notchers are in the Metal Roofing Tools range.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is IBR the same as Austrian Trapezoidal?

EERA sells one notcher for both and lists it as ideal for IBR (inverted box rib) and Austrian Trapezoidal profiles. Its dimension drawing is titled Austrian Trapezoidal. What matters for the tool is the rib: 35mm high, 67mm at the base and 35mm at the top. If your rib matches, this notcher suits it.

Can I get replacement blades for it?

Yes. IBR is one of the six profiles with replacement blade sets listed online. Open the EERA replacement blades product and choose IBR from the Suits Notcher option. The set will only fit this notcher, because EERA blades are profile specific.

Will it notch flashings for a T40 or BTD 45 roof?

No. T40 and BTD 45 are different trapezoidal shapes, and EERA makes a separate notcher for each. The T40 notch is 70mm at the base and 23mm at the top, and the BTD 45 notch is 45mm high. Blades cannot be swapped between tools, so buy the notcher for your profile.

Does the IBR notcher need power?

No. It is a manual lever tool, so there is no lead, battery or compressor to carry onto the roof. It measures 560 x 130 x 150mm with a net weight of 6kg, and it can be used at the folder or on the roof itself.
