About the EERA Spandek Flashing Notcher
The EERA Spandek Flashing Notcher cuts rib notches in flashings for Spandek and the equivalent profiles EERA lists: Lysaght Spandek, Metrospan, Stratco Smartspan and Stramit Longspan Spandek. The tool is designed and manufactured in Warrnambool, Victoria, and is easy to pick out by its blue handle.
A flashing notcher, also called a flashing cutter or flashing puncher, replaces marking out and snipping each rib. The head is shaped to the Spandek rib and seats itself on the profile. Set the folded flashing in the tool, pull the lever, and the notch is cut to size and in position.
Spandek is a common profile on Australian roofs, so this is a tool a roof plumber or flashing shop can expect to use often.

Folding Before You Notch
EERA recommends folding Spandek flashing or trim to 90 degrees on a sheet metal folder, 30mm long. The turndown then matches the 30mm rib, and the notched edge sits down over each rib onto the pan. Fold the full length first so the edge is even, then notch rib by rib. Check the first notched flashing against the sheet before you notch the rest of the batch.
What You Need to Complete the Job
Flashings for a Spandek roof can be folded from our 1200mm wide flat sheet in Colorbond or Zincalume or ordered through the custom flashing range. Other EERA notchers, plus snips and riveters, are in Metal Roofing Tools.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will it notch flashings for Metrospan and Smartspan?
Yes. EERA lists Lysaght Spandek, Metrospan, Stratco Smartspan and Stramit Longspan Spandek for this tool. The rib is the thing to check: 30mm high, 60mm across the base and 22mm across the top. If your sheet matches, the notcher suits it.
Is the Spandek notcher the same as the 30mm Trimdek tool?
No. The published notch figures are the same, 30mm high, 60mm at the base and 22mm at the top, but EERA sells them as separate tools for separate profiles and recommends different folds: 90 degrees for Spandek and 70 degrees for the 30mm Trimdek. Blades are not interchangeable between EERA notchers, so buy the tool for the profile you are flashing.
Can I get replacement blades?
Yes, by enquiry. The blades are hardened steel and both replaceable and sharpenable. Spandek blade sets are not listed online, so call us on (03) 9394 1400 with the product code SFN57 and we will check supply and price with EERA.
Does the Spandek notcher need power?
No. It works with a manual lever, so there is no lead, battery or compressor to carry onto the roof. The tool measures 560 x 130 x 150mm with a net weight of 6kg, and it can be used at the folder or up on the roof.
