Overview
The Holman 50mm DWV PVC Weathering Apron seals the point where a vent pipe passes through a roof. It sits over a 50mm lead flashing, and the 50mm drainage DWV pipe goes inside it, so rainwater running down the pipe or across the roof is directed away from the penetration instead of finding its way in.
It is a simple two-part detail used in domestic and commercial plumbing: the lead flashing does the waterproofing at the roof surface, and the PVC apron carries the pipe through the weatherproof junction. The fitting is solvent welded over the pipe and complies with AS/NZS 1260 for DWV pipe systems.
Key Features

- Made from quality UPVC, corrosion free and tough
- Complies with AS/NZS 1260 for drainage and vent systems
Specifications
- Size: 50mm nominal
- Material: UPVC
- Connection: solvent weld over pipe
- Application: drainage, wastewater and vent
- Standard: AS/NZS 1260
Applications
- Sealing DWV vent pipe roof penetrations
- Weathering the junction between lead flashing and pipe
- Drainage and overflow pipe work through roofs
- Vent pipe installations on residential and commercial buildings
What You Need to Complete the Job
Fit the lead flashing around the pipe at the roof surface, slide the weathering apron over it, and solvent weld the 50mm DWV pipe inside the apron. Complete the vent installation with a DWV Vent Cowl on top to keep vermin and debris out. The apron works with the DWV fittings range in the PVC Fittings range, and the wider concreting range is at Concreting.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a weathering apron used for?
It weathers the point where a pipe passes through a roof. The apron sits over the lead flashing and carries the vent pipe through the junction, so rainwater cannot track down the outside of the pipe and into the building. It is the standard detail for a roof penetration of a vent pipe.
Does it fit 50mm DWV pipe?
Yes. The apron is 50mm nominal and the 50mm drainage DWV pipe goes inside it. The pipe is solvent welded into the apron, and the apron sits over a 50mm lead flashing at the roof surface.
Is this suitable for commercial work?
Yes. The fitting complies with AS/NZS 1260 and is suitable for both residential and commercial drainage and vent installations. It is a standard component in the Holman DWV pipe systems range.
Do I need any special tools to install it?
No. It is solvent welded using standard PVC solvent cement, so you need the cement and clean, cut pipe. The apron itself needs no special tooling, and it can be used for drainage or overflow work as well as vent pipe roof penetrations.
