Dakaflash 300mm x 5m
Dakaflash is a reinforced, lead-free flashing tape for permanent weatherproof sealing around roof penetrations, abutments, valleys and edges. It pairs a coloured creped aluminium surface with a mesh-reinforced butyl adhesive backing, which gives it more body than a standard butyl tape. This 300mm x 5m roll is the mid-size stock roll, and it stretches up to 30% in length so it conforms around curves, ridges and bullnose edges without splitting.

How To Apply It
Clean and dry the surface, peel the liner and lay the tape along the joint, stretching it gently as you press it into corners and curves. The mesh-reinforced backing holds its shape while the tape dresses around ridges and penetrations. Press the edges down firmly and lap any joins by at least 50mm. The self-adhesive system installs in full-length strips with no mastics or heat.
Applications
- Sealing around roof penetrations, valleys and abutments
- Flashing ridges, bullnose edges and veranda curves
- Ridge and hip capping detail on metal roofs
- Repairs where a stretchable lead-free flashing is wanted
What You Need To Complete The Job

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Dakaflash and a standard butyl tape?
Dakaflash has a mesh-reinforced backing that gives it more rigidity and body, and it stretches up to 30% in length. That makes it better at conforming around curves, ridges and bullnose edges than a standard flat butyl tape.
Is it safe for rainwater harvesting?
Yes. It is lead-free and non-toxic, so it is safe for homes collecting rainwater. That is a common reason roofers switch from lead flashing to a reinforced tape like this.
Can I paint over it?
The creped aluminium surface is coloured to match lead, black or terracotta flashings. It is supplied in those three colours so it blends without painting, and the surface can be overpainted where a specific colour match is needed.
How much stretch does it really give?
Dakaflash stretches up to 30% in length. That lets it dress around a corner, ridge or penetration in one piece instead of cutting and joining, which keeps the seal continuous.
