About the EERA BTD 45 Trapezoidal Flashing Notcher
The EERA BTD 45 Trapezoidal Flashing Notcher cuts rib notches in flashings for the BTD45 trapezoidal profile. It cuts the tallest notch of any EERA notcher we list, at 45mm, with a 75mm base and a 22mm top. EERA designs and manufactures it in Warrnambool, Victoria.
A flashing notcher, also known as a flashing cutter or flashing puncher, saves marking and snipping each rib by hand. On a tall rib like the BTD45, a hand cut notch takes longer and is harder to keep even. The notcher’s head is shaped to the rib and self locates, so each pull of the lever gives the same notch.
It suits roof plumbers and sheet metal shops that flash BTD45 roofs regularly and want every notch to match.

Folding Before You Notch
EERA recommends a 90 degree fold on a sheet metal folder, 45mm long, for BTD 45 flashing or trim. The 45mm turndown matches the rib height, so the notched edge drops over each rib and sits on the pan. Fold the whole length first, then notch rib by rib. When you have a batch of flashings to do, fold them all at the same setting first, then notch them one after another.
What You Need to Complete the Job
Choose the BTD 45 option in our EERA replacement blades when the blades wear. Flashings can be folded to order or chosen from our custom flashing range. For other trapezoidal profiles, browse the EERA notchers in our Metal Roofing Tools range.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know my roof is BTD45 and not T40?
Measure the rib. The BTD 45 notcher cuts a notch 45mm high, 75mm at the base and 22mm at the top. The EERA T40 notcher is 40mm high, 70mm at the base and 23mm at the top. Those few millimetres matter, because a notch that is too small will not sit down over the rib.
Are replacement blades available?
Yes. BTD 45 is one of the six profiles with replacement blade sets listed online. Open the EERA replacement blades product and choose BTD 45 from the Suits Notcher option. The set only fits this notcher, because EERA blades are not interchangeable.
Can it cut hips?
No. EERA lists hip cutting as not available on this tool. It is made to notch straight flashings and trims along the ribs, in galvanised or prepainted steel up to 1mm thick. Hips still need to be marked and cut the usual way, with snips.
Does the notcher need power or air?
No. It works with a manual lever, so there is no lead, battery or compressor to manage on the roof. It measures 560 x 130 x 150mm and has a net weight of 6kg. EERA designs and manufactures it in Warrnambool, Victoria.
