More Information

8-9 x 51mm Chipboard Screws Csk Ribbed 1000 Pack

The 8-9 x 51mm chipboard screw is a countersunk ribbed fastener built for chipboard, MDF and softwood. The coarse thread grabs the board and pulls the joint tight, while the ribbed countersunk head self-embeds as it drives, leaving a clean flush finish that does not need counter-boring. This 1000 pack is the trade size for cabinet and furniture shops and any job that runs through a lot of fixings.

Key Features

  • 8-9 gauge x 51mm length, the long chipboard screw for thick board and multi-layer joints
  • Countersunk ribbed head self-embeds for a flush finish without pre-countersinking
  • Coarse thread for maximum holding strength in softwoods, chipboard and MDF
  • Zinc and yellow (Z/Y) finish for corrosion resistance on interior and semi-exposed work
  • 1000 pack for trade, cabinet and shop fitting volumes

What You Need To Complete The Job

For thinner board use the 8-9 x 38mm chipboard screw, and for very soft timbers choose the Class 3 ribbed chipboard screw. Where the job moves into structural timber use a Type 17 hex timber screw. Browse the full Screws range for the complete fastener selection.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the ribbed head for?

The ribs under the countersunk head act like a countersink cutter. As the screw drives in, the ribs open the surface and let the head seat flush with the board, so you get a clean finish without a separate countersinking step.

Can I use these in MDF and particleboard?

Yes. The coarse thread is designed for chipboard, MDF and particleboard. It bites firmly into the board and resists strip-out, which is the failure you most often see with a fine-thread screw in these materials.

What length do I need?

As a rule the screw should pass through the top board and reach roughly two thirds into the base board. At 51mm, this screw suits thicker joints and laminated panels; the 38mm version is the choice for standard 16 to 18mm board.

Do they suit exterior work?

The zinc and yellow finish handles interior and lightly exposed conditions. For a truly external timber fixing, use a Class 3 or Class 4 coated screw instead. See the Screws range for the coating options.
