Frequently Asked Questions

What is a quick connect plug?

A quick connect set has a plug on one end and a socket on the other. They push together for a sealed connection and release with a pull of the collar, so you can swap hose lengths and guns without undoing threads each time.

Is 5000 psi enough for my sprayer?

Yes. Most electric airless sprayers run at or below 3300 psi, and even the highest pressure diaphragm units sit under 5000 psi. A fitting rated at 5000 psi has good margin for normal airless work.

Will the stainless fitting seal well?

NPT is a taper thread, so it seals as the thread tightens, and stainless steel gives a clean, corrosion free mating surface. Use thread sealant approved for solvents and paints on the joint to be sure of a leak free connection.

What does the 5000 psi rating mean?

The fitting is rated to hold 5000 psi working pressure, which is well above the output of most electric and pneumatic airless sprayers. The rating gives you margin, so the connection is not the weak point in the spray line.

Does the plug come with a socket?

No. This is the plug half of the quick connect set. It pairs with a matching socket, such as the 3/8 inch NPT socket in the same range, to make a complete connection.

How do I know the plug is sealed?

The NPT thread is a taper, so it seals as it tightens into the socket. Use a thread sealant approved for paint solvents on the joint, then pressure test the line with cleaning fluid before you spray paint.
