More Information

Steel Fascia

Steel fascia gives a roof a crisp, contemporary edge while carrying the gutters, soffits and barge boards that finish the roofline. This fascia is rolled from high-tensile steel at 0.55mm base metal thickness, with a 0.70mm heavy duty option, and is finished in the full Colorbond palette or in traditional Zincalume. Unlike timber boards that warp and need constant painting, steel fascia arrives straight, true and ready to fix.

Key Features

  • 0.55mm BMT standard, with a 0.70mm heavy duty option for exposed sites
  • Full Colorbond palette including classic, matt and ultra ranges, plus Zincalume
  • Hidden fixings give a clean façade with no exposed nail heads or screws
  • Pre-punched slots align brackets quickly and keep roof construction on schedule
  • Rolled top lip accepts spring clips or screw-on brackets for the gutter
  • Subtle return at the lower edge stiffens the profile and seats lining boards
  • High-tensile steel spans rafters at 1200mm centres, reducing bracket count

Why Steel Beats Timber

A timber fascia board warps, splits and needs repainting every few years, and once it moves the gutter line moves with it. Steel fascia keeps a straight line for the life of the roof. The factory-applied paint system needs only an occasional wash-down, and the profile holds its shape so the gutter fixing stays true. For coastal or industrial sites, the marine-grade Colorbond ultra range adds extra protection against the salt air.

Standard Specification And Variations

  • Base metal thickness: 0.55mm standard, 0.70mm heavy duty
  • Lengths supplied: 6.0m, cut to length on request
  • Finishes: Colorbond or Zincalume plain
  • Colour categories: classic, ultra, matt
  • Matching accessories: brackets, joiners, internal and external corners, barge capping
  • Additional accessories: box ends, apron flashings

Installation Outline

  1. Fix adjustable brackets to the rafters at a maximum 1200mm spacing, using a stringline to keep them true.
  2. Clip or screw the fascia onto the brackets, allowing a 5mm expansion gap at each joiner.
  3. Fit the internal or external corners, then slide on the stop ends or barge caps.
  4. Hang the gutters using compatible spring clips or screw-over straps, then complete with downpipes and leaf guards as required.

Applications

  • New residential roofs after a sharp, modern fascia line
  • Replacement of rotten timber boards during a renovation or re-roof
  • Commercial canopies and light industrial sheds where durability matters
  • Coastal homes using the Colorbond ultra range for marine protection

What You Need To Complete The Job

A fascia run needs its matching fittings to finish clean. Add the internal corner and the external corner for the turns, rafter brackets to fix the fascia to the structure, and barge mould for the rake edges. Then hang your gutters from the fascia and see the full fascia and accessories range.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is steel fascia?

Steel fascia is a metal board that runs along the lower edge of the roof, where the rafters meet the wall. It finishes the roofline and gives the gutters a solid surface to fix to. Unlike timber, it does not warp, rot or need repainting, and it keeps a straight line for the life of the roof.

What thickness is this fascia?

The standard fascia is rolled from 0.55mm base metal thickness steel, and a 0.70mm heavy duty option is available for exposed or coastal sites. The heavier option adds stiffness where the fascia spans a long run or carries a heavy gutter load.

What lengths and colours are available?

Fascia is supplied in 6.0m lengths and can be cut to length on request, and it is priced per metre. It is available in the full Colorbond palette across the classic, matt and ultra ranges, plus Zincalume plain. Tell us the colour you need and we will confirm it is in stock.

How is steel fascia installed?

Adjustable brackets are fixed to the rafters at a maximum 1200mm spacing, then the fascia clips or screws onto the brackets with a 5mm expansion gap at each joiner. Corners and barge caps finish the ends, and the gutters hang from the fascia with spring clips or screw-over straps.

Can I order for delivery or pickup?

Yes. You can order steel fascia online, cut to length, and choose Australia-wide delivery or pickup from our Truganina trade counter in Melbourne’s west. Delivery windows depend on your postcode and the length ordered, and we send a confirmation once your order is ready.
