More Information

3/4 in UNF Suction Strainer for Airless Pumps

This 3/4 inch UNF suction strainer fits the inlet of a range of Graco and Wagner airless pumps. It replaces the Graco part 235-004 and the Wagner part 0508738, so it is a straight swap on the machines it lists. The strainer filters the paint as it is drawn into the pump, which keeps the inlet valve and packings free of lumps and debris.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which pumps does this strainer fit?

The listing names the Graco 390, 395, 490, 495 and Ultra Max 695 and 795 pumps, plus the Wagner PS 21 to 25 and PS3.21, PS3.23 and PS3.25 models. It replaces the original Graco 235-004 and Wagner 0508738 parts.

How do I know my strainer is worn?

Check the mesh for tears, holes or paint build up, and watch for a surging or starved spray pattern. A damaged strainer lets debris through to the pump, so replace it as soon as you see wear.

Is this the same as an inlet strainer?

It serves the same job at the pump inlet, but the thread and fit differ. This is the 3/4 inch UNF version for the pumps listed above, while a 1 inch NPT strainer suits pumps with the larger NPT inlet. Match the thread to your machine.

How do I fit the strainer?

Screw the strainer onto the pump inlet in place of the old one, hand tight then a quarter turn with a spanner. The 3/4 inch UNF thread matches the pumps listed on the product, so it is a direct replacement for the Graco and Wagner originals.

What happens if I run the pump without a strainer?

Without a strainer, lumps and debris in the paint go straight into the pump, where they can damage the inlet valve and packings. That is why the strainer is a wear item worth replacing as soon as it is damaged.
