EERA sells two Trimdek ridge cap notchers, and this is the taller of the two. Both have the same 60mm base and 22mm top. The difference is the notch height, 37mm here against 30mm on the 30mm Trimdek ridge cap notcher, and the fold each one is set up for.

For roofers capping taller Trimdek ribs, the shaped head means the notch height is right first time, with no trimming back after the cap is offered up to the roof.

Folding Before You Notch

EERA recommends folding the flashing or trim to 50 degrees on a sheet metal folder, 37mm long, for this tool. That is a shallower fold than the 70 degrees EERA gives for the 30mm version, so do not reuse a folder setting from one to the other. Fold the full length, then seat the head at each rib and pull the lever. Offer the first notched cap up to the roof before you run the rest.

How do I choose between the 30mm and 37mm Trimdek notchers?

Measure the rib height on the sheet you are capping. If it is 37mm, this is the tool; if it is 30mm, choose the 30mm version. Both share the same 60mm base and 22mm top, so height is the deciding figure. Blades are not interchangeable between the two, so one tool will not do both.

What fold angle does this notcher need?

EERA recommends 50 degrees on a sheet metal folder, 37mm long. Fold the whole flashing before you start notching so the edge is even along its length. An even fold lets the head seat the same way at every rib.

Can it cut hip cappings?

No. EERA lists hip cutting as not available on this notcher. It is made for straight ridge caps and flashings along the ribs, in galvanised or prepainted steel up to 1mm thick. Hip cappings still need to be marked and cut the usual way.

Can I get replacement blades for the 37mm tool?
