About the EERA 30mm Trimdek Ridge Cap Notcher
The EERA 30mm Trimdek Ridge Cap Notcher cuts the notches in a ridge cap so it sits down over each rib of a Trimdek style roof. EERA lists it for Trimdek, Trimclad, Monoclad and 5 rib profiles, with a 30mm high rib. It is designed and manufactured in Warrnambool, Victoria.
Notching ridge caps by hand means marking each rib, cutting two sides of every notch with snips and folding the tab. This tool, also called a roof cap cutter or ridge cap puncher, does each notch in one pull of the lever, and the head finds the rib by itself.
For roofers capping Trimdek every week, the time saved adds up across a job, and the notches stay even along the full ridge.

30mm or 37mm Trimdek?
EERA sells two Trimdek ridge cap notchers. This is the 30mm high tool. The 37mm Trimdek ridge cap notcher has the same 60mm base and 22mm top but cuts a 37mm high notch. The fold also differs: EERA recommends 70 degrees at 30mm long for this tool and 50 degrees at 37mm long for the 37mm one. Measure the rib height on your sheet before you choose.
What You Need to Complete the Job
We stock Colorbond Trimdek roofing in 0.42 and ready made 220mm ridge capping to suit Trimdek, the capping this kind of tool is built to notch. Gloves and snips for trimming the ends round out the job.
Frequently Asked Questions
What fold does EERA recommend for this notcher?
EERA recommends folding the flashing or trim to 70 degrees on a sheet metal folder, 30mm long. That suits the 30mm rib height of the tool. Fold the full length first so the edge is consistent, then seat the head at each rib and pull the lever.
Does it suit 5 rib profiles other than Trimdek?
EERA lists Trimdek, Trimclad, Monoclad and 5 rib profiles for this tool. The thing that matters is the rib shape: 30mm high, 60mm across the base and 22mm across the top. If your sheet’s rib matches those figures, the tool suits it. If it is taller, look at the 37mm version.
Can I cut hips with it?
No. EERA lists hip cutting as not available on this notcher. It is made for straight ridge caps and flashings along the ribs. Hip cappings still need to be marked and cut in the usual way, with snips or your usual method.
Can I get replacement blades for the 30mm tool?
Yes, by enquiry. Trimdek blade sets are not sold online, and the 30mm and 37mm tools take different blades. Call us on (03) 9394 1400 with the product code RCN-57 and we will check supply and price with EERA. The blades can also be sharpened, which extends their life.
